The thermostat
Make sure it's set to cool and a few degrees below the current room temperature. If it runs on batteries, a fresh set can't hurt.

The breaker
Look at the breaker for the AC. If it's tripped, you can reset it once — but if it trips again, leave it off and call us.

The filter
A filter packed with dust chokes the whole system. If yours is clogged, swapping in a clean one is an easy fix worth trying.
